In a major victory for the rewilding movement, the UK government has given the green light for beavers to be reintroduced to England! Once hunted to extinction around 400 years ago, beavers have been brought back to several locations across the country, but nationwide approval has been stalled by political issues. Ecologists highlight that their return will provide numerous benefits, such as enhancing biodiversity and helping to manage flooding. However, some farmers oppose their release, citing concerns about potential flooding of agricultural land. This is still a win for nature recovery in England!
